Knit Together By Adoption

Meet the Neufeld family.

This family is awesome. Anyone who knows them will agree. What they are doing right now is even more awesome than what they are, which is really saying something.

#knittogetherbyadoption

This little hashtag that Shala dubbed on her Instagram feed has sparked an overwhelming community on the interwebs all in the name of adoption. So many people have shared their stories, become friends, encouraged, and helped others through some extreme struggles, all through this connection. It's crazy how God can use something so small to do really big things.

Now God has expanded this ministry for Shala and her family and is guiding them across North America. They host local KTBA events where they share Jesus, encourage, and fellowship with anyone in the adoption community who wants to attend. What is the adoption community? It's the adoptees, adoptive parents, foster parents, social workers, teachers, counselors...and the list can go on. And let me tell you, it's pretty incredible.

I was so excited to find out that a KTBA event was being hosted right here in Gainesville. Not only would I get to meet my instagram friend in real life, but we would also be able to meet others locally who were going through or had gone through the adoption process. The host family was Matt and Ashley Bolin, who are in the process of adopting 2 children from Uganda. What is really cool, was to find out that I had connections to the host family, like crazy connections, such as: Ashley and I attended middle school together in Brandon and their youngest son went to Pre-K with my nephew so they know Kris's sister as well. God was already putting things in place for us to connect with this wonderful family. :)

Loved this post from Shala on Instagram regarding this same thing:

This is why I love IG because you get crazy stories like this....Somehow through @itsjustemmy's hoopart exchange fundraiser I met this girl @kimhartphoto, I checked out her profile and loved that at the time she was a purple haired, book nerd, preacher's wife so I told her we needed to be friends. Fast forward to this past year when I shared our#knittogetherbyadoption stops which she was so excited to see that we were not only stopping close by but in her hometown of Gainesville! She asked who was hosting and I told her @julyrose1026was which they soon realized they had attended middle school together but haven't seen each other since. So this weekend we, they, all of us have bonded not awkwardly but with ease like we have been long dear friends over conversations of life, sports, music, movies, adoption and Jesus.#igfriendsarethebest#igfriendsbecomeirlfriends#becauseyourheartsjustgeteachother

Love when you can see God working in the small things!

You can check out what they are up to on their instagram feed: @knittogetherbyadoption or on their blog http://mixedbeautifully.blogspot.com/
